On 4th of July, Can You Celebrate Your Own Freedom?

Friday, July 1st, 2011

We in the United States are starting our 4th of July holiday, also known as Independence Day. And like any holiday, what is it all about? Since the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776, this holiday weekend, Americans are celebrating freedom. The Fourth of July is considered the birthday of the United States of America, so it’s time to party, and picnic and play.

freedom

But Independence Day is not the only day to celebrate freedom, emancipation or independence. Learn the history of some of the other celebration in the article "When Do You Celebrate Freedom, Emancipation or Independence Day?"

there’s a talk radio station that has a segment called “Free Your Mind Friday”. It’s especially pertinent today as we go into the American freedom celebrating holiday. But free your mind is actually more to the point. As individuals we can be free my mastering ourselves. It was an incredible demonstration and victory for Nelson Mandela to emerge from years of imprisonment in his right mind and without bitterness. Mastering oneself is true freedom.

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
Nelson Mandela

Tired Of Waiting For Service?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Emergency Room Wait?

The other day I needed to go to the emergency room.  Not wanting to sit idle for four hours, I put on my old Army fatigues and stuck a patch onto the front of my shirt  that I’d downloaded from the Internet.  When I went into the E.R. I noticed that three quarters of the people got up and left.  I guess they decided that they weren’t that sick after all.  Cut at least three hours off my waiting time.  Here’s the patch.  Feel free to use it next time you’re in need of faster emergency service.

Drivers License?

It also works at DMV. It saved me five hours.

Quick Wash?

At the Laundromat, three minutes after entering, I had my choice of any machine, most still running.

How About McDonald’s?

Don’t try it at McDonald’s though.

The whole crew left and l never got my order.

Border Control Badge

OK, this is a joke…Not Political?

But,

Superman had his kryptonite.

Illegal immigrants have the US Border Control.

Perhaps the use of Border Control badges is an alternative to the U.S. federal and Arizona’s illegal immigration laws…

Arizona Immigration Law – Is There Reason To Protest?

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

The United States has immigration laws. Many, if not most American support developing a strategy for stopping the flood of illegal immigrants. Americans have been calling for immigration reform. Unless you’ve been in a cave, you’ve heard the news that Arizona has a new immigration law. It seems to do the same as thing as the US Federal immigration law. But there are protest against the Arizona law.

Is there a reason to protest?

Check out this very clever email I received.
(It’s got the chain letter nonsense at the end of it (which I hate,
but decided to publish the ending as is.)

Does it accurately explain the mentality of the protestors?

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Arizona is addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry
that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into
this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly
understand the thinking behind these protests. Let’s say I break into your house.  Let’s say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say,

‘No! I like it here. It’s better than my house. I’ve made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I’ve done all the things you don’t like to do. I’m hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:

You are Required
to let me stay in your house.

You are Required to feed me.

You are Required to add me to your family’s insurance plan.

You are Required to educate my kids.

You are Required to provide other benefits to me & to my family.

(My husband will do all of your yard work because he is also
hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the
police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my
RIGHT to be there.

It’s only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I’m just trying to better myself.  I’m a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house and what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you
can do about it without

being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND
that you learn
MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me.

Why can’t people see how
ridiculous this is? Only in America!  If you agree, pass it on (
in English). Share it if you see the value of  it.

If not blow it off……… along with your future Social Security funds, and a lot of other things.
